Ware’s Hairsedge

Bulbostylis warei, commonly known as Ware’s Hairsedge, is a perennial sedge native to the southeastern United States, particularly thriving in wetland habitats such as marshes and along the edges of streams. This species typically grows to a height of 30 to 90 centimeters, forming dense clumps with a tufted appearance. The leaves are slender, linear, and can reach lengths of up to 50 centimeters, exhibiting a fine texture that contributes to its delicate aesthetic. The inflorescences are composed of small, inconspicuous flowers that are borne on slender spikes, usually appearing in late summer to early fall, followed by the production of small, nut-like fruits that are dispersed by water and wind, aiding in its propagation in suitable habitats.
