Seaside Petunia is a compact perennial with vibrant flowers, ideal for coastal gardens.
Also known as: Seaside Petunia
Calibrachoa parviflora, commonly known as Seaside Petunia, is a perennial herbaceous plant native to the coastal regions of South America, particularly in Argentina and Uruguay. This species typically exhibits a compact growth habit, reaching heights of 6 to 12 inches and spreading up to 24 inches, forming a dense mat that can effectively cover ground. The leaves are small, ovate, and dark green, providing a lush backdrop for the plant’s striking flowers. The flowers are trumpet-shaped, measuring about 1 to 2 inches in diameter, and come in a variety of colors including purple, yellow, and white, often with darker markings that attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies. The fruit is a small capsule that contains several seeds, which are dispersed by wind and water, aiding in the plant’s propagation in its native habitat.
Plant in spring after frost. Prune regularly for bushier growth.
