Camassia cusickii, commonly known as Cusick’s Camas, is a perennial herb native to the western United States, particularly found in the moist meadows and grasslands of the Pacific Northwest. This species typically grows to a height of 12 to 24 inches, forming a clump of narrow, strap-like leaves that can reach up to 18 inches in length. The striking flowers, which bloom in late spring to early summer, are star-shaped and can vary in color from pale blue to deep violet, attracting a variety of pollinators, including bees and butterflies. The fruit is a capsule that contains several seeds, which are dispersed by wind and water, aiding in the plant’s propagation across its native range.
