Also known as: Nevada Suncup
Camissonia nevadensis, commonly known as Nevada Suncup, is a perennial herb native to the western United States, particularly thriving in the arid regions of Nevada and California. This species typically grows to a height of 12 to 30 inches, forming a rosette of basal leaves that are lanceolate and often covered in fine hairs, giving them a slightly grayish appearance. The plant produces bright yellow flowers that bloom from spring to early summer, attracting various pollinators, including bees and butterflies. The fruit is a slender capsule that contains small seeds, which are dispersed by wind and water, aiding in its propagation across its native range.
