Mt. Diablo Milkvetch

Astragalus oxyphysus, commonly known as Mt. Diablo Milkvetch, is a perennial herbaceous plant native to the serpentine soils of California, specifically found in the region surrounding Mount Diablo in Contra Costa County. This species typically grows to a height of 30 to 60 centimeters and exhibits a tufted growth habit, forming dense clumps that can spread through rhizomatous roots. The plant is adapted to the unique edaphic conditions of its native habitat, often thriving in areas with low nutrient availability and high metal content.
