Bryoxiphium norvegicum

Norway Bryoxiphium Moss is a dense, cushion-like moss found in cool, moist habitats across Europe and North America.

Also known as: Norway Bryoxiphium Moss

Bryoxiphium norvegicum, commonly known as Norway Bryoxiphium Moss, is a perennial moss native to the cool, temperate regions of Europe and North America, particularly thriving in moist, shaded environments such as forest floors and along stream banks. This moss typically grows in dense, cushion-like mats that can reach heights of 2 to 5 centimeters, forming a lush green carpet that adds to the biodiversity of its habitat. The leaves are small, lanceolate, and densely packed, exhibiting a bright green color that can turn yellowish during dry periods, while the sporophytes, which are the reproductive structures, appear as slender stalks that rise above the moss mat, bearing capsule-like spore cases that release spores for reproduction during the appropriate season.
