Brachythecium salebrosum var. flaccidum
Flaccid Brachythecium Moss is a low-growing moss with flaccid leaves, thriving in moist, shaded habitats.
Also known as: Flaccid Brachythecium Moss
Brachythecium salebrosum var. flaccidum, commonly known as Flaccid Brachythecium Moss, is native to temperate regions, thriving in moist, shaded environments such as forests and along stream banks. This moss typically grows to a height of 2 to 5 cm, forming loose, sprawling mats that can cover large areas. The leaves are elongated and lanceolate, with a distinctive flaccid appearance that gives the species its common name. They are bright green when hydrated, turning a yellowish-brown when dry, and exhibit a smooth texture with a slightly curled margin. While this moss does not produce flowers, it reproduces through spores, which are contained in sporophytes that emerge on slender stalks during the reproductive season, usually in late spring to early summer.
