This moss is primarily found in tropical and subtropical regions, with a native range that includes parts of Africa, particularly in countries like Madagascar and various regions in East Africa. It typically thrives in moist, shaded environments, often colonizing the forest floor, rocks, or decaying wood, where it contributes to the biodiversity of its ecosystem.
