It typically thrives in moist, shaded environments, often colonizing the forest floor, rocks, or decaying wood, where it contributes to the biodiversity of its ecosystem.
The growth habit of Acaulon schimperianum is characterized by its low, cushion-like form, generally reaching heights of 1 to 5 centimeters.
