Blue Threeawn

Aristida purpurea var. nealleyi, commonly known as Blue Threeawn, is a variety of grass native to the Great Plains of North America, specifically found in regions such as Colorado, New Mexico, and parts of Texas. This perennial grass typically grows in dry, sandy soils and is often associated with prairie ecosystems. The growth habit of Blue Threeawn can reach heights of 30 to 90 centimeters (approximately 12 to 36 inches), exhibiting an upright form that contributes to its distinctive appearance in its natural habitat.

The leaves of Aristida purpurea var. nealleyi are narrow and elongated, typically measuring between 10 to 30 centimeters in length and 2 to 5 millimeters in width. They are characterized by a fine texture and a bluish-green color, which gives the plant its common name.
