Also known as: Awnless Beardgrass
Bothriochloa exaristata, commonly known as Awnless Beardgrass, is a perennial grass native to the warm regions of North America, particularly found in the southeastern United States. This species typically grows in clumps, reaching heights of 2 to 4 feet, with a dense, upright form that provides excellent ground cover. The leaves are narrow, linear, and can be up to 12 inches long, exhibiting a fine texture and a green to bluish-green color that turns golden in the fall. The inflorescence consists of small, inconspicuous flowers that bloom in late summer to early fall, producing seeds that are dispersed by wind, contributing to its spread in suitable habitats.
