Compact Brome

Bromus madritensis, commonly known as Compact Brome, is a perennial grass native to the Mediterranean region, particularly found in Spain and Portugal. This species typically grows to a height of 30 to 60 cm, forming dense clumps that provide a lush green appearance in the landscape. The leaves are narrow, linear, and can reach up to 25 cm in length, exhibiting a fine texture that adds to its ornamental value. The flowering period occurs in late spring to early summer, producing loose, elongated panicles that bear small, spikelet-like flowers, which are often purplish in color. The seeds are small and easily dispersed by wind, contributing to its spread in suitable habitats.
