Nevada Onion

Allium nevadense, commonly known as Nevada Onion, is a perennial herbaceous plant native to the western United States, particularly found in the mountainous regions of Nevada and surrounding areas. This species typically grows in well-drained soils at elevations ranging from 1,500 to 3,000 meters. The growth habit of Allium nevadense generally features a clumping form, with individual plants reaching heights of 30 to 60 centimeters. The foliage consists of narrow, linear leaves that can reach lengths of up to 30 centimeters, emerging from the base of the plant and often forming a basal rosette.

The flowers of Allium nevadense are one of its most notable characteristics, appearing in late spring to early summer. The inflorescence is a globular umbel composed of numerous small, star-shaped flowers that are typically white to pale pink in color, attracting various pollinators, including bees and butterflies. Following the flowering period, the plant produces a capsule containing small seeds, which can be dispersed by wind or water.
