Munz’s Mariposa Lily

Calochortus palmeri var. munzii, commonly known as Munz’s Mariposa Lily, is a perennial herb native to the southwestern United States, particularly found in California and parts of Arizona. This variety typically grows to a height of 12 to 24 inches, forming a clump of slender, grass-like leaves that emerge from a bulbous base. The leaves are linear and can reach up to 12 inches long, providing a lush green backdrop for the striking flowers that bloom in late spring to early summer.
