Dwarf Rockcress

Arabis parishii, commonly known as Dwarf Rockcress, is a perennial herbaceous plant native to the western United States, particularly found in California and parts of Nevada. It typically inhabits rocky slopes, meadows, and disturbed areas, thriving in well-drained soils at elevations ranging from 1,000 to 3,500 meters. The growth habit of Dwarf Rockcress is characterized by a compact form, usually reaching a height of 10 to 30 centimeters. The plant often forms dense mats or rosettes, which help it to withstand the harsh conditions of its native habitats.

The leaves of Arabis parishii are basal, lanceolate to oblong in shape, and possess a smooth or slightly hairy texture. They are typically arranged in a rosette at the base of the plant, with a dark green coloration. The flowers are a notable feature, appearing in clusters on slender, erect stems. Each flower consists of four white to pale lavender petals, which can be up to 1.5 centimeters long, and they bloom primarily in the spring.
