Matamoros Saltbush

Atriplex matamorensis, commonly known as Matamoros saltbush, is a perennial shrub belonging to the Amaranthaceae family. This species is native to the arid regions of northern Mexico and parts of the southwestern United States, particularly Texas. It typically grows in saline or alkaline soils, often found in desert scrub and grassland habitats. The plant can reach a height of approximately 1 to 2 meters, exhibiting a bushy form that allows it to thrive in its harsh environment.

The leaves of Atriplex matamorensis are notable for their succulent, grayish-green appearance, which helps to minimize water loss in arid conditions.
