Buckwheat Milkvetch

Astragalus caricinus, commonly known as Buckwheat Milkvetch, is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the legume family, Fabaceae. This species is native to the western United States, particularly found in regions such as California and Nevada, where it typically inhabits dry, rocky slopes and grasslands. The growth habit of Astragalus caricinus can reach heights of 30 to 60 centimeters, exhibiting a bushy form with multiple stems arising from a central base. The foliage consists of compound leaves that are pinnately arranged, featuring numerous small leaflets that are typically lanceolate to elliptic in shape and exhibit a glaucous green coloration.
