Grass Milkvetch

Astragalus chloodes, commonly known as Grass Milkvetch, is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the legume family, Fabaceae. This species is native to the western United States, particularly found in the regions of the Rocky Mountains and surrounding areas, where it thrives in grasslands, open forests, and disturbed sites. Grass Milkvetch typically exhibits a growth habit that ranges from 20 to 60 centimeters in height, forming a low, spreading mound that can cover substantial ground. Its stems are often erect or ascending, with a slightly hairy texture.

The leaves of Astragalus chloodes are pinnately compound, usually consisting of 11 to 17 leaflets that are linear to lanceolate in shape, providing a feathery appearance.
