Providence Mountain Milkvetch

Astragalus nutans, commonly known as Providence Mountain Milkvetch, is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the legume family (Fabaceae). This species is native to the arid regions of the southwestern United States, particularly found in parts of California, Nevada, and Arizona. It typically thrives in rocky, well-drained soils at elevations ranging from 1,000 to 2,500 meters, often in desert scrub and grassland habitats.

The growth habit of Astragalus nutans is characterized by its low, spreading form, usually reaching heights of 30 to 60 centimeters. The plant features compound leaves that are pinnately arranged, each leaf consisting of numerous small leaflets that are oval to linear in shape, providing a feathery appearance.
