The plant typically exhibits a growth habit characterized by a height ranging from 15 to 50 centimeters, with a spreading or upright form that allows it to adapt to various environmental conditions.
The leaves of Astragalus pattersonii are pinnately compound, consisting of numerous small leaflets that are typically oval to lanceolate in shape. These leaves are arranged alternately along the stem, contributing to the plant’s overall green appearance. During the flowering period, which generally occurs in late spring to early summer, the plant produces clusters of distinctive flowers that are usually purple to lavender in color.
