Also known as: Miniature Suncup
Camissonia micrantha, commonly known as Miniature Suncup, is a perennial herb native to the western United States, particularly thriving in California’s coastal and desert regions. This plant typically grows to a height of 6 to 12 inches, forming a low, spreading mat that can cover significant ground. Its leaves are small, lanceolate, and often have a glaucous hue, providing a striking contrast to its bright yellow flowers that bloom in spring and early summer. The flowers are cup-shaped, attracting a variety of pollinators, and they give way to small, elongated capsules containing seeds that are dispersed by wind and water, aiding in its propagation across its native habitats.
