Wright’s Desert Honeysuckle

Anisacanthus quadrifidus var. wrightii, commonly known as Wright’s Desert Honeysuckle, is a perennial shrub native to the arid regions of the southwestern United States and northern Mexico, particularly thriving in areas such as Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. This variety typically grows to a height of 1 to 3 feet (30 to 90 cm) and exhibits a bushy, upright form. The plant is well-adapted to its desert environment, often found in rocky soils and dry washes, where it can tolerate drought conditions.

The leaves of Wright’s Desert Honeysuckle are lanceolate to ovate, measuring approximately 1 to 3 inches (2.5 to 7.5 cm) in length, and are arranged oppositely along the stems. The foliage is typically a dull green, providing a contrast to the vibrant tubular flowers that bloom from late spring to early fall.
