Inland Leatherfern

Acrostichum danaeifolium, commonly known as the Inland Leatherfern, is a perennial fern native to the southeastern United States, particularly found in wetland habitats such as swamps, marshes, and along the edges of rivers and streams. Its distribution extends from Florida to Texas, and it is often associated with disturbed areas and open canopies where moisture is abundant. The Inland Leatherfern typically exhibits a growth habit that can reach heights of 1 to 3 feet (30 to 90 cm), forming a dense, clumping habit that can spread through rhizomatous growth.

The most notable characteristics of Acrostichum danaeifolium are its leathery, dark green fronds, which can be quite large, measuring up to 3 feet (90 cm) in length.
